About us

High up in the Cordillera Blanca range of the Peruvian Andes, sits Churup Mountain Lodge, offering a truly up-close experience of local life and nature.

At 3,700 metres, we offer views out across the city itself and the Cordillera Negra to the west while across the remainder of our horizon are ancient and glorious agricultural landscapes and the slopes of 5,000 metre snow capped peaks.

This makes us the perfect location for spectacular day trekking experiences around lakes, glacially carved gorges and mystical hillsides. The entrances to Quilcayhuanca, Cojup and Laguna Churup with access to Laguna Llaca, Shallop and Ratucolta are all close.

When out walking, you can feed your soul in the tranquility and stunning beauty of our surroundings, while when you return in the evening, our lodge is a spiritual base second to none.

What’s more, after a day in the mountains you can come home to freshly cooked organic dishes, direct from our own gardens, and then retire to the peace and comfort of our luxury rooms.

Privacy and comfort characterise these two luxury ensuite bungalows conveniently situated either side of the main lodge.

Spacious and full of character they have natural rock walls and eco friendly sedum roofs. Their large windows are positioned to maximise breathtaking mountain views. Each is equipped with wardrobe, drawers, desk and chair.

Note - As stated above, the price quoted includes full board for two people, with breakfast, packed lunch and three course dinner. Absolutely Stunning Trekking Lodge

Sublime views and great company. I love this place.

The people that deliver the offer we make at Churup Mountain Lodge have over eight decades of experience in hospitality, sustainability and construction, here are some of our key players

The Creator

is the dreamer, founder and creator of the project, he has overseen the construction and development since its inception in 2002. This is his creation, and he has the largest shareholding. He spends his time between the lodge, his son in England and taking part in worthy environmental causes such as the Standing Rock demonstration.

Go to guy

had the misfortune of asking Charlie if he needed some help when Charlie was scraping out the first foundations on a desolate rocky hillside, back in 2012. He hasn´t managed to leave since, he maintains our buildings, landscaped gardens, and infrasture including our hydro plant. He is everyone´s right hand man that keeps everything functioning. Go gadget.

Head cook

is a stalwart that keeps everyone fed, she is in charge of the kitchens, delivering the delicious, healthy meals that keep us all energised day in day out.

dug the first foundations in July 2002 when his brother Alex left him on his own for 2 days in a tent, saying "I´m just popping down to get some more tools, I´ll be back up this evening". Aparently the ground is "Quite rocky". Charlie took care of the of The Way Inn Shamanic centre as Churup Mountain Lodge in early 2017. The Way Inn Shamanic cerenomies still happen on certain dates. Charlie is our General Manager responsible for legal, financial and staffing issues, poor chap is a Chartered Accountant (CPA), and is not the most interesting conversationalist. Charlie is a minority shareholder for his efforts.

is the Matriach that keeps everyone in line, so you had better behave when she is around. She is mother to Alex and Charlie which is a full time job in itself trying to keep them form killing themselves on some crazy half hatched mountain scheme, such as crossing the mountains in inflatable canoes. Janina has introduced the unique interior style seen at the Lodge and oversees our organic kitchen garden. She is a large shareholder in the business.

Operations Manager

is fluent in English, Spanish and her native French. She is responsible for hospitality and housekeeping.
